Linux Multimedia Studio is a virtual studio for music creation. LMMS offers a free alternative to commercial software. To work with it JACK and SDL libraries and audio card are required. With LMMS you can produce electronic music via your computer, so you don’t have to buy expensive hardware for having great sounds and making cool music. You can select from a wide range of instrument sounds and compose melodies, cords and beats using simple, intuitive editors. Multiple tracks enable you mix sounds in flexible ways. You can quickly get hang of the basic functionality by following the online tutorials (look under "Help" in the menu bar). You can create music by sounds synthesis, placing ready loops, playing melodies on the MIDI-keyboard and more. Also you can manage the patterns, create channels for different instruments, connect sound files with samples. This program has user-friendly graphical interface. In addition, this new version includes support for LADSPA-effects for some instruments, and also there is support for VST plug-ins. Moreover, there are ready presets and some essential samples. So, you can look at the demo songs before getting started with LMMS. |
